On August 20, SBR’s litigation team successfully invalidated noncompetition restrictions imposed upon their client, an accounting firm co-founder, in a lawsuit brought against him and his new internationally-prominent accounting firm. A Wisconsin Circuit Court agreed with SBR that the restrictions contained in the accounting firm’s Operating Agreement were subject to Wisconsin’s noncompete statute, and that they were overbroad and unenforceable as written. The ruling resulted in the dismissal of the lawsuit seeking to enforce the restrictions.
SBR’s litigators have extensive experience with Wisconsin’s unique noncompete law, and routinely assist clients and their new employers who are faced with anti-competitive restrictions that interfere with their business and their market activities.
